Home v Lochend Colts

Well it’s an end of an era for our lads but I am sure it will be the start of a new exciting chapter for them all with some new challenges.

Tonight was a worthy end to an amazing season.

What a great game, end to end with a bit of everything. Tough tackling, passing, tactical play, goals and a bit of off the ball niggle.

Loanhead started brightly and put the early pressure on the Lochend defence. Riley and Lachie were making good runs and Ellis and Kirwin were playing some great midfield runs and passes.
Kai was bossing the middle of the park and the defensive line of Glen, Jude and Edward was solid playing a high line catching Lochend offside a number of times.

The game really caught alight when Kai surged forward beating a couple of players and hit a lovely ball through to Ellis who hungrily smashed it Home. 1-0

Before Loanhead could enjoy their lead though Lochend struck back with a well worked attack on the left and the big midfielder smashed a shot into the top corner. 1-1

It was end to end stuff with both teams having chances and both keepers playing well.

Kirwin then showed what he is made off when he got the ball in his own half and set off on a brilliant run up the left wing before cutting inside and laying a pass to Ellis who scored his second. 2-1

Riley was having a busy game and came close with 2 shots dragged just wide.

Lochend then equalised when they sprung the offside trap and the player ran from half way and dinked the ball over Danny. 2-2

Jude then tried for the spectacular with a shot from just inside the half way line which their keeper did well to tip over the bar.

Riley then got a goal that he richly deserved when he hit a strong shot from the edge of the 18 yard box into the bottom left corner 3-2 H/T

Second half was a gritty affair as Lochend put us under a lot of pressure and Danny had multiple saves.

Loanhead defended brilliantly with some strong play from Lachie and Jude.

We played a hit on the break game defending in numbers and then breaking fast. Lloyd played some strong attacking play and tackling in midfield.

Glen played really well down the left flank and had a number of close shots.

Lachie tackled well on the half way line and played a first class pass through to Glen who ran in on goal and his shot was close.

The last goal of the game came on the left wing with some scrambled play allowing the ball to break to Glen who dropped a shoulder and made room before striking the ball home. 4-2

The last 5 minutes saw some strong challenges as Lochend lost their discipline and some off the ball challenges and verbals tested our boys resolve.

No need for ‘Rada’ time tonight though. 4-2 victory!!! ❤️💪🏻

Very proud of all the boys tonight. Lots of effort and great play. A few emotional parents on the sidelines tonight and the coaches did well not to shed a tear at the final whistle.

Man of the Match tonight went to Danny for a strong performance bossing his box and lots of good saves.

End of the season and the Player of the Year trophy went to our colossus that is Jude Anderson. Fantastic season Jude, outstanding fitness and skill every game.
